The local leadership team in Kasarani recently met to decide on the first set of messages to send to the community. They chose a hybrid of peace messages, civic education messages, and advertising community peace events. The peace messages include quotes and proverbs about peace and violence, with a focus on communities working together and on sensitizing community members to ideas of peaceful and accountable leadership. They want to send messages that include attributes of good leaders, sensitizing people starting now (months before the electoral campaigns even start) to ideas of good leadership, encouraging them to vote based on such attributes.
The peace messages also build community trust for the platform, and get people thinking about peace before the electoral campaigns begin.
